2024 MINI-CYCLONES Registration: Faircrest Residents/Owners Only!

You are about to register for the 2024 swim season!  NOTE: this form is for Faircrest residents and homeowners only. Separate forms are available and required for non-residents.

The process is simple for both new and returning members.

Note: this form is for mini-Cyclones registrations only, for a "learn-to swim" (non-competitive) program for ages 4 to 7.  Please use the "team" registration forms for any children (ages 5 to 18) wishing to swim on the main Cyclones team.  Mini-Cyclones are encouraged to attend all Cyclones events and cheer on the Cyclones at all of their meets: thus, refer to the team code of conduct below.

Learn-to-swim classes for the Mini-Cyclones will take place 3 days a week on Mondays, Tuesday, and Thursdays after end of school. Classes will be 30 min in length and 3 sessions will be offered:

7:30-8am, 8-8:30am, 8:30-9am.

Assessment for Minis will take place June 17th at 8am. Selection of session will also take place at this time.

Please be precise entering personal information for each athlete, especially name, birthdate, and gender. These determine how the athlete will compete.

Terms and Conditions

General

The Faircrest Cyclones are a swim team managed by Centreville Farms Community Association (CFCA), the homeowners association that owns and operates Faircrest's pool and other common areas. The Association has determined that homeowners as a whole benefit from the value and opportunities afforded by the team's programs, and it is incumbent on the team and all its members to recognize that larger neighborhood: in short, to be safe, respectful, and responsible citizens within the community for which they swim.

The team is managed by a chartered CFCA committee (Centreville Farms Swim Team Committee), which coordinates closely with the CFCA Board as needed but operates with a high degree of autonomy to self-fund its programs and direct team operations. Neither Association nor team are operated for profit.

Should any questions, issues, concerns, or disputes arise, team participants are to bring them first to the Team Representatives (Team Reps).  If the Team Reps are unable to resolve the matter, they will refer it if necessary to league officials, meet officials, coaches, Committee or CFCA Board, as appropriate.

Child Supervision

While almost all Faircrest Cyclones activities feature adult supervision of the children participating--by lifeguards, coaches, and other parents--the primary and ultimate responsibility for the safety and behavior of each swimmer remains with the swimmer's parent or guardian. Specifically, CFCA pool rules require (as do most pools the team may visit) that all children under 12 years of age have parental/guardian supervision. Swimming is not an activity to take for granted, even as children become skilled at it: out of respect for the risk and out of concern for the safety of its participants, the Faircrest Cyclones require that parents/guardians adequately supervise their children.

Transportation

Participation in the Faircrest Cyclones necessitates travel to and from practices, meets (home, and away) and other events. It is important that the Parents and Guardians take an active role in the safety of their children while traveling to and from team events. By executing these Registration documents, Parents and Guardians are acknowledging the importance of their role and agreeing that they will be solely responsible for the selection, monitoring, safety and implementation of the means of transportation for their child.

Release of Contact Information

Registrants give permission to the Faircrest Cyclones to use their email address, phone number, and other contact information for notices, correspondences, and volunteer coordination relating to team activities. The Faircrest Cyclones may also send members occasional e-mails regarding sponsor products or services, but will not distribute member contact information to sponsors or other external entities.

Notice of Change in Contact Information

Registrants must notify a Faircrest Cyclones Team Rep in writing of any change in email address, phone number, address, or emergency contact information within 2 days of such change.

Consent to Photograph

Registrants permit the Faircrest Cyclones to photograph the registering swimmers and their parents, guardians, or guests at team practices, meets and social events.  Parents/guardians further consent that such photographs and video, including their own likenesses and those of their minor children, may be used commercially for purposes of advertising and promoting the team. For member privacy, the Faircrest Cyclones does not anticipate any public usage of these images that would directly link an image to the depicted participant's name (except coaches).

Team Code of Conduct

Purpose

The Faircrest Cyclones provide opportunities to develop skills, knowledge and values necessary for each individual to become a capable concerned participant in the swimming community.

Expectations

Appropriate behavior allows everyone to learn, to be safe and to be treated with respect, courtesy and consideration. Consequently, appropriate behavior within the Faircrest Cyclones is mandatory. Each person is responsible for his/her behavior and is capable of making appropriate choices. It is therefore the responsibility of coaches, parents and others to encourage and enforce appropriate behavior.

Swimmers

  1. Obey promptly all instructions from lifeguards, the coaching staff and officials on duty at meets or practices. Good behavior is expected of all swimmers to ensure all swimmers receive adequate instruction.
  2. Ask permission from the Coach and/or team staff before leaving poolside for any reason.
  3. Always display good sportsmanship.
  4. Respect your teammates: work equally hard for yourself and your team. Encourage your teammates and applaud all good efforts, regardless of winning or losing races.
  5. Respect competitors from other teams: treat all swimmers as you would like to be treated yourself.
  6. Behave in a responsible and orderly manner in the shower area, on deck and in all pool areas.
  7. You should only enter the designated swim area of the pool during practices and meets. All other swimming areas inside the pool facility are prohibited during practices or meets, i.e. baby pools, splash pools, beach entrances.
  8. Clean up your trash and food before exiting the pool, both at practice and at meets. Food may only be consumed within designated areas.
  9. Swimmers shall maintain orderly conduct within the team area and on deck during meets. No running, pushing or shoving shall be permitted.

Parents

  1. Parents are an integral component of the team. Indeed, the team could not survive without parental involvement. Parents are encouraged to participate in team activities and functions, supporting their children and ensuring that their children abide by the Code of Conduct.
  2. Parents are required to participate with volunteer activities during all meets when possible.
  3. Parents should behave in a safe, polite and responsible manner whenever they are representing the team, at any team event.
  4. Parents should not use abusive language or act in an aggressive manner at any time.
  5. Parents wishing to discuss swimming matters with their child's coach should do so at a mutually agreed time. This meeting will not take place during a practice session or meets.
  6. Parents should notify the Coach or member of the Faircrest Cyclones staff if their child will not be participating in an upcoming meet two days prior to the scheduled event. In the event that your child has committed to an event and becomes ill, please notify the Coach as soon as possible.
  7. Parents should notify the Coach when possible if their child is going to be absent from practices. Coach will outline communication procedures at the beginning of the swim season.
  8. If your child is or recently has been unwell, withhold him/her from practice and meets, both for his/her own health and that of teammates.
  9. Parents can contact any Team Rep of the Faircrest Cyclones with any questions or concerns about team functions and operations.

Pool Facilities Usage

The Centreville Farms Community Association (CFCA) has entrusted the Faircrest Cyclones with the usage of the pool and its facilities during the morning practice sessions, before the pool is open to the community as a whole. The Faircrest Cyclones holds themselves to the highest standards of community responsibility. In keeping with these high standards, we ask our swim team families the following:

  1. We encourage parents to use common courtesy for the usage of the pool restrooms and common facility. The early morning practices have many families readying their children for camp. Showers are utilized in a first come first serve basis. We kindly ask you to be considerate of your shower use, and if possible, to limit the usage time when others are waiting.
  2. We ask that during swim team morning practices, while the pool is closed to the rest of the community, all children over the age of 5 use their same gender bathroom. They should not be using the opposite gender bathroom out of consideration for those changing and using the showers after practice.

Meet Conduct

No team personnel, competitor or spectator shall act in an unsportsmanlike manner. This includes, but is not limited, to the following:

  1. Making insulting or derogatory remarks, gestures or acts, including taunting.
  2. Trying to influence or showing disgust with officials' decisions.
  3. Interfering with meet officials in the performance of their duties.
  4. No parent shall approach the Referee or Officials during any competition; all questions should be directed to the Team Reps.
  5. Using obscene language.
  6. The use of tobacco or alcoholic products is not permitted at the pool facility before or during League-sponsored meets. The pool facility includes all parking lots and buildings associated with the pool facility.
  7. Competitors shall not participate in after-meet celebrations, which include: running and shoving, throwing trash or other debris into the pool.
  8. No team personnel/competitor shall enter the water without the Referee's approval. This includes pre-meet warm-ups and individual events.
  9. No competitor shall intentionally contact or hold another competitor during the swimming of an event that results in impeding the progress of that competitor.
  10. The reporting of a violation to these Codes of Conduct will be through the Team Representative to the meet Referee. If after one warning the behavior continues, the individual(s) involved shall be requested to leave the premises.

If an individual has repeated offenses, team and/or League officers will be consulted for further actions, to include barring the offender from further participation.
