Coaches are the Cyclones' only employees, with junior coaches and sometimes assistant coaches being drawn from the ranks of the team itself. The rest of team operations is handled by volunteer parents, the principals listed below.

Taylor Knight Head Coach

A swimmer since the age of 5, Taylor swam competitively for Little Rocky Run, Centreville High School and Makos. He became the Cyclones' head coach in 2017, but he has been coaching swim and providing private lessons for over ten years. A graduate of Duke University, Taylor currently manages an IT staffing company.

Corona Virus Update

Current uncertainties regarding the behavior, spread and containment of the COVID-19 virus mean that no one can actually predict what our Cyclones summer swim season will look like. We and our League are, at this point, planning it as usual. The one certainty we can offer prospective swimmers and parents is this: should the season be cancelled before it starts due to COVID-19, your money will be refunded in full.

We therefore encourage you both to register for the team and to take the steps recommended by our school and government authorities to keep yourselves and others healthy.

2020 Registration Info

Regular registration--for both residents and non-residents--begins April 1. Late registration period begins May 16. Registration will end June 15 or when capacity is reached. Register early!

Team registration is the typical choice: includes practices, meets, and social events. Practices for the first 3 weeks are after school, in the afternoon/evening; once the school year ends, we offer the choice to practice morning or evening: select at registration (ability to switch mid-season may be impossible). See the tentative practice schedule below. Ages 5-18 (as of June 20), must be able to swim one length of the pool (25m) unassisted.

Meets-only is an alternate way to register for the team. This option has little practice time: it's typically chosen by swimmers who have a pretty full practice schedule over the summer with a year-round club, but want to socialize and compete alongside their Cyclone friends. See tentative practice schedule below to see the practices Meets-only swimmers may attend.

Mini-Cyclones form a learn-to-swim program for ages 4-8. It consists of small group classes taught by team coaches alongside team practices. The objective is to graduate to the team, though that is not mandatory. Welcome at social events and at meets, but cannot compete. Intention in 2020 is for Mini-Cyclones to practice mornings, starting June 14. Contact us if you have a Mini-Cyclone who wants to practice in the evening, instead. Again, see tentative practice schedule below.

Team: $180/swimmer
Meets-only: $130/swimmer
Mini-Cyclones: $95/swimmer

Late signup (after May 15): +$20/swimmer
Sibling: -$20/swimmer after first (team only)
